Sidel at AllPack Indonesia 2019: Innovations for today and tomorrow

The 20th edition of AllPack Indonesia, the focused platform for the entire value chain serving the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, will take place from October 30 until November 2. In Jakarta, Sidel (Booth DD017, Hall D1 & D2) will be showcasing its reliable, safe and flexible solutions for drinks and edible oil manufacturers, paired with their expertise in packaging design and advanced End-of-Line systems.

In the last few years, Indonesia has been influenced by a few megatrends that are projected to impact the way of life for consumers also in the next decade. Chief among them are the increased connectivity of consumers and the premiumisation of products in terms of health, efficiency and unique properties. Importantly, a new affluent class now has the means to spend more on such products.[1] This trend is evident in sales numbers across different categories, such as soft drinks (CAGR of 4% until 2023), beer (CAGR of 7% until 2023) – mostly flavoured or mixed lager with low alcohol content – and even edible oil (2% retail value CAGR).

Sustainable innovations across every step of the packaging value chain

At booth DD017, Sidel will introduce visitors to the latest market-tailored innovations, designed to increase performance in the production process while minimising Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). “Our proven Sidel Aseptic Combi Predis™ is an integrated blow-fill-seal filler solution with dry preform sterilisation. It ensures an aseptic production that is flexible, simple, cost-effective and safe. We have also been the first company to receive Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) approval for this patented technology: overall, more than 150 references installed by liquid dairy and juice producers worldwide represent a clear demonstration of the value it brings. The solution sits among the many innovations across the line and beyond that champion our commitment to help producers reduce their environmental footprint, another big company highlight at the show,” says Parkpoom Praprom, Sales Director Beverages West Asia at Sidel.

Talking sustainability, Guido Ceresole, Sales Director for Food, Home and Personal Care South East Asia Pacific at Sidel, comments: “Designing for recyclability and management of waste – both contributing to keep plastic within the economy – are the starting points for avoiding leakage of packaging in the environment. In Asia, unfortunately, a few countries are among the top 10 for the mass of mismanaged plastic waste and Indonesia is among them.” In 2018, plastics represented 15% out of the 66 million tons of waste produced across the archipelago. Guido continues, “It is great to see that things are quickly changing though. The Indonesian Environment and Forestry Ministry is currently drafting a roadmap to phase out the use and production of environmentally unfriendly packaging, while encouraging the industry players to re-think their packaging systems to be ‘greener’ by eliminating single-use plastics.

Suitable for food, home and personal care producers and designed to complement low-speed lines, it contributes to line efficiency, reliability and – especially – increased welfare for operators.

With beer showing a positive trajectory in the country, Sidel will also leverage the show as an opportunity to highlight its latest additions to their filling portfolio. Both EvoFILL Can and EvoFILL Glass offer a high degree of versatility and hygienic conditions for the filling of top quality beer. “EvoFILL Glass is our response to the need to adapt to rapidly changing markets and trends in premium beverages. Engineered according to the highest hygienic standards, this filler comes with a bunch of unique features, such as its new ‘no base’ design and its external beverage tank and integrated small product chamber,” Parkpoom adds.
